CareNet ConnectionHelping Churches Provide groceries, furniture, and transportationThe Mission of CareNet Connection is to improve the quality of life for as many people as possible, by giving volunteers in the church body the opportunity to serve people, and show God's love. We seek to do this by making connections between those who have needs, and compassionate individuals and ministry teams who can help to meet those needs. This ministry resource center, located in Fultondale, seeks to share the gospel through relationship/ministry evangelism. We work to match Christ followers in the churches who have talents, gifts, and skills, with people in the community who have a variety of needs. We hope to see the love of God expressed in a way that lives are transformed. To Christ be the glory, as people are being helped, and many Christ followers are experiencing the value of being used as God’s instruments through ministry service projects. CNC began at the end of August 2005, just at the time that Hurricane Katrina hit. Much of the fall of 2005 efforts centered around bringing churches together to provide meals, clothing, transportation, housing, furniture, and household items for evacuees. Referrals were made connecting them with other agencies that could help. Many were prayed with, given a gospel witness, and given information about resources, and places to go to have their needs met, in the city they would begin to call home. In its ongoing ministry, CNC is currently organizing ministry teams for many different ministry projects that fit with that teams passion for service. Examples of service projects include volunteer service working in our food bank, helping at our furniture donation center, providing transportation services to some senior in need, friendly reassurance phone calls to someone that needs encouragement. We have begun to compile ministry opportunities listed in our Needs Bank, and a list of agencies, with whom we can partner, that offer social services. This is a very helpful resource, and we simply call it our Resource Directory.
