Season of Our SaviorEach year during the Christmas holiday season, the BBA offers you and your church or group three unique ways to share hope with others... Cakes at ChristmasLast year we had requests for 1,222 cakes from area prisons and service agencies. We received approximately 700 cakes to fill those requests. If you choose this project for this coming season, ideally, the cakes should be in bakery-type boxes since they have to be stacked and stored. Please call as soon as possible to let us know how many cakes your group will contribute. Stockings at ChristmasStocking donations were up this year from last year. We received approximately 1,900 stockings, which was 800 more than the previous year. However, the BBA had received requests for 2,630 stockings. The stocking requests for babies under two years and for teenagers were the age groups that were underfilled. If you choose this project, stockings should be approximately fifteen to eighteen inches long, and six to seven inches wide. They can be homemade or bought. Fill them with nuts, candy, coloring books, crayons, or small toys (no fruit, please). They do not need to be elaborate. If a choice is to be made, use less expensive stockings and put more inside. Please attach a note specifying whether the stocking is for a boy or girl. Also note the age:
Books at ChristmasA book is a present you can open again and again. Make a Christmas gift of a book. You can bring your donations to the Birmingham Baptist Association. Literacy scholarships are also needed for teachers and students, who are unable to pay for training and materials. The cost of the training and materials is $40 for teachers. Any contributions would be welcomed for student materials. A donation of $25 would pay for a student’s basic workbooks. For more information, call the Birmingham Baptist Association at 205-599-3245 or lindap@bbaonline.org. |
